Tee Junction Above Shorn Fields, Prairie Road

The grain fields look like camel hair coats. A view of a warm dusty summer landscape, slow and quiet, the perfect space.

From A series of watercolors of the remembered imagery of travel through the plains as a youngster in the 1960s.

The straight line to the horizon dominates this set of paintings as it still defines the movement through the spaces I remember.

There was always a sense of space moving backwards in time, the faster you tried to imagine leaving the space the further the horizon seemed to recede. The mythical mountains, they were all ‘The Rockies’ no matter which range we were destined for, provided the lure that the car chased as a fish would through the grass sea.
